SerendipiTea is certified organic by QAI (Quality Assurance International), the largest international third-party certifier in the world. QAI states that, “Organic means produce and other organic ingredients in retail products are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms or ionizing radiation. Animals that produce meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products are not given antibiotics or growth hormones. An organic production system is managed to respond to site-specific conditions by integrating cultural, biological and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance and conserve biodiversity.” Our product is NOP (National Organic Plan) Certified Organic according to USDA regulations which prohibit the use of GMOs. “The use of genetic engineering, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), is prohibited in organic products. This means an organic farmer can’t plant GMO seeds, an organic cow can’t eat GMO alfalfa or corn, and an organic soup producer can’t use any GMO ingredients. To meet the USDA organic regulations, farmers and processors must show they aren’t using GMOs and that they are protecting their products from contact with prohibited substances from farm to table.” For further information please visit: www.ams.usda.gov/grades-standards/organic-standards
