Mozambique Black FOP
Mozambique Black FOP

Origin:  Mozambique
Organic & Kosher

Enjoy the re-awakening of Mozambique's organically grown specialty tea! Medium-bodied with pronounced citrus & subtle honey notes ~ full, lasting flavor all in a bright copper cuppa.

Tea was first planted in the East African country of Mozambique in the 1920s by Portuguese settlers in Gurue (Zambezia Province) located in the southern Rift Valley. Ideally situated in the foothills of famed Mount Namuli, this fertile region boasts a cool, moist climate at high elevations. Tea production was robust & enjoyed both domestic & international success, becoming one of Mozambique's main exports by the 1960's. Then, in 1975, after nearly five centuries of colonial rule, Mozambique gained its independence from Portugal after which decades of civil war ensued. Tea production plummeted & gardens were abandoned...until fairly recently. The past decade has been dedicated to revitalizing Mozambique's tea gardens & we are thrilled to bring you the results of that dedication & hard work. Cheers!
