Ochazuke is a dish that consists of rice, tea or broth & usually some sort of salty topping such as salmon, seaweed (nori) or pickled goodies (tsukemono) & dried seasonings (furikake). It was created to make use of leftover rice & may seem quite simple but if you've had it done right, you would know how heavenly it is. This adorable set adds to the pleasure of this comfort dish with its inviting & smiling bowl. Ceramic with a stainless steel mesh strainer in the pot. Made in China.
Green Tea Rice Recipe
Serves 2 | Prep Time: 5 Minutes | Cook Time: 10 Minutes

1 cup cooked steamed rice, such as jasmine or short-grain sushi
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 cup Japanes Green Tea (Sencha or Kukicha are good options)
Some thinly sliced scallions
Some tsukemono (various pickles)
1/2 teaspoon toasted white and black sesame seeds
In a small sauce pan, bring the Green Tea to simmer, add the salt and turn off the heat.
Put the steamed rice into the bowl of the Ochasuke Set, add the scallions, tsukemono (pickles) and sesame seeds on top of the rice. Pour the green tea over the rice and serve immediately.
